Mayor (speaker 1) said the state added lighting to the project and will cover 86.58% of the cost; the city's share will be 13.42%, bringing Glendive’s portion to $207,483.97. Council and staff noted a request for congressional funding has been submitted to Congressman Downing’s office to potentially offset the city share.
Council member discussion clarified the financing split and uncertainties about external funding. "The state came back and added lighting into the project, and so they are paying 86.58% of the project, and we paid 13.42% of the project," the mayor said. Council voted to approve the change to the project and the increased city contribution.
Separately, the council approved a motion to close Merrill Avenue for the July 4 parade and to keep the 200 block closed overnight through the following noon for post‑parade activities and a pancake breakfast; members discussed enforcement and neighbor complaints but approved the closure by voice vote.
