The Glendive City Council voted April 21 to accept a $298,966 bid for a new ambulance and to finance the entire purchase.
The Cooper committee had recommended the higher-priced Osage model because of a longer wheelbase, heavier-duty chassis and a lifetime structural warranty compared with the lower-priced option, committee presenter (speaker 4) said. The committee noted the ambulance enterprise fund could pay cash but recommended financing because the city’s cash was earning higher interest than loan rates.
Council moved the ambulance purchase (mover recorded in the minutes as Brett; second: Joanne) and approved it by voice vote. Ambulance staff (speaker 9) told the council the vehicle should be delivered and outfitted within about a month and that replacement equipment — including a replacement cot — had already been obtained to prepare for the new unit.
The council’s motion authorized financing of the purchase; staff will return with financing specifics and delivery timing for council records.
