Recorder's staff brief board on early voting, ID‑verified drop‑offs and readiness ahead of primary

Constance Hargrove (Recorder’s office) explained that the ID‑verified drop‑off process uses the same ID standard required for in‑person voting and that the office identified seven vote centers likely to have increased early‑drop activity and provided additional poll books at those sites. The recorder said early ballots returned with ID verification will be tracked and reported separately in nightly returns. Hargrove also confirmed the Department of Justice had written regarding bilingual language access; DOJ monitors are expected in Pima County on Election Day to assess compliance with bilingual assistance obligations.

The board discussed an Elections Oversight Task Force that met once to establish rapid communications for potential issues on election day (IT outages, weather, or other disruptions). Administration said the task force is designed to be convened quickly if needed and to include elections, communications, IT and county attorney representation.
