Freetown selectmen approve routine licenses, surplus items, budget transfers and PEG pay increase

The Freetown Board of Select approved a series of routine consent and action items at its July 13 meeting.
Licenses and donations: the board voted to approve a one-day liquor license for the Thomas Chew Boys & Girls Club for August 6, 2026 and accepted a $50 donation to the Council on Aging from Susan Samayo (donor name appears in the transcript with two spellings).
Surplus and property: the board approved delegating authority to the town administrator to declare and dispose of town-owned surplus items under $1,000, and separately declared a set of Council on Aging and town-clerk items as surplus to be disposed of or sold on Municibid with starting bid guidance discussed.
Budget transfers and events: members approved a package of interdepartmental budget transfers (including $3,000 from highway wages to overtime; $15,000 police wages to additional overtime; $10,000 police wages to vehicle repairs; $20,000 treasurer transfers; several town-clerk adjustments) and authorized an event at Patches Hill Farms (remote-control truck show/swap meet) for Oct. 24, 2026.
Appointments and personnel: the board rescinded several prior appointments and appointed new members to committees and emergency-management positions with terms effective mainly 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2027.
Media/PEG: the board voted to increase the filming and editing pay for the person who records and edits meetings to $175 for filming and $175 for editing, funded from PEG access funds.
All of the above motions were handled by voice vote and recorded as carried in the meeting minutes; items previously tabled (police AI policy and Flock cameras) were left for later consideration.
