Washington County staff recommend appointments to parks advisory boards

Carl Switzer, Washington County parks division manager, told the Board that four seats on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and seven positions (including alternates) on the Metzger Park Local Improvement District Advisory Board are available and that the advisory boards had forwarded candidate recommendations.
Switzer said the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommends appointing Barry Boulding to a midterm vacancy through June 30, 2028, and reappointing Kim Janssen, Patrick McGee and Nico Gearling for terms through June 30, 2029. For the Metzger Park local improvement district advisory board he said the boards recommended appointing Roy Beatty and Barrett Johnson to midterm vacancies (terms to 06/30/2028), reappointing Thomas McGowan and Jordan Silk, and appointing Aaron LaFollette to terms ending 06/30/2029.
Commissioners raised administrative questions and local-representation concerns. Chair Harrington and other commissioners asked whether applicant materials included details about proximity to specific parks—Eagles Landing was cited as an area where board members with water-user experience (canoe/kayak) might be especially useful. Switzer apologized for a missing application profile (Victoria Fisk) that had been omitted from the packet but said the advisory board had considered all applicants.
No formal appointment votes were taken at the work session. Switzer asked for the board’s permission to place the appointments on a forthcoming business meeting agenda for formal action; commissioners agreed to move the items to a future board meeting for formal consideration and adoption.
The board’s next formal step will be action at a regular business meeting where those appointments and reappointments can be adopted on the record.
