District leaders report upcoming events, graduation and operational plans

Administrators at the NICE Community School District provided routine reports on events, student activities and operations at the May 18 board meeting.
Superintendent Bryan DeAugustine outlined plans for a potential promotional video and a NICE website reboot; he also noted discussion of continuing the Superior Rehabilitation Services contract and a proposal to trade the district's Kubota tractor for a larger vehicle to aid groundskeeping.
Building-level reports included: Chris Marana (ARES) announcing Family Night on May 19 (5–7:30 p.m.), participation of 5th graders in a CTE day at Westwood High School, the ACES walk on May 22 and a 5th grade Bay Cliff Health Camp trip; Griffin Lawson (ARMS) reported 8th grade and 6th grade trips and upcoming 8th grade graduation activities; and Cliff Fossitt (WHS) described student efforts to clean headstones related to the Barnes & Hecker tragedy, Senior Awards activities and reminded attendees that WHS graduation is Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m.
Special education director Nathan Longton reported on the annual preschool screening, an FSP bowling alley field trip and the SCI summer program. Athletic Director Bobby Zhulkie said spring sports are wrapping up and thanked coaches, athletes and community volunteers. Transportation Director Eric Warlin noted the district is considering liquidation of older buses; later in the meeting trustees authorized liquidation of four used buses.
These operational items frame action items approved later in the meeting and establish near-term dates and follow-ups for staff and families.
