Newaygo council corrects water and sewer commodity rates, unanimously amends budget

The Newaygo City Council voted June 29 to adopt Resolution 2026-20, which establishes water and sewer charges and corrects an earlier error that had applied 2014 commodity rates instead of the intended 2025 commodity rates. City Manager Schneider said the new resolution replaces the April version and fixes the commodity-rate mistake.
Schneider also presented a detailed budget packet and noted certain line amounts were bolded for amendment. On a motion by Council Member Burns, seconded by Council Member Walker, the council approved Resolution 2026-21 amending the City’s fiscal-year 2025–2026 budget. A roll-call vote recorded yeas from Black, Burns, DeVries, Engemann, Fedell, Walerczyk and Walker; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting’s consent agenda — including the June 8 regular meeting minutes and multiple accounts-payable disbursements — was approved earlier in the session. Separate motions approved a permit for a community festival at Riverfront Phase 1 Park and adjourned the meeting.
