Facility superintendent: Wastewater plant meeting permit levels, plans UV conversion to cut upkeep costs

"We're definitely in the parameters of permit by DEP," the superintendent said, adding that the plant is "running very well right now." The superintendent also reported no emergency mark-outs in June and that zero grinder pumps were replaced in June and year-to-date.
Staffing and maintenance: the superintendent said the facility has a full operations staff of five operators and five mechanics, with one technician vacancy being filled. Planned maintenance includes repairs to a secondary clarifier and a generator start-up so two generators will be available for plant operations.
Disinfection and cost savings: the superintendent outlined a multi-year plan to switch from hypo to a UV disinfection system, describing significant operating-cost savings: "if you're doing 90,000, there'll be, like, not even 15,000 a year for, upkeep on the UV system. You won't need any hypo anymore," the superintendent said.
The superintendent also said the Monfort Grove pump station site plan is complete and that the contractor referred to in the transcript (COFAX) is preparing to begin primary-clarifier construction work.
Next steps: the facility will proceed with scheduled clarifier repairs, finalize generator start-up with the vendor and continue planning for the UV conversion. No permit changes or regulatory actions were announced at the meeting.
