Trustees approved a recommendation March 9 to accept the lowest qualified bid from Pine Cove to purchase network routers for the district.
Why it matters: The routers are part of a multi-year technology refresh; because the bid exceeded the E-Rate threshold, the district ran a competitive RFP and adjusted bids to remove installation/configuration costs. The resulting Pine Cove bid of $90,508.28 is E-Rate eligible, and the district expects the federal E-Rate program to pay approximately 80% of eligible costs, leaving a local share of about $18,101.66 to be charged to the technology budget.
Technology director Mr. Williams explained the procurement and E-Rate adjustments, noting the district will perform installation and configuration in-house, which lowered the vendor cost. Trustee Henning moved to award the contract to Pine Cove for $90,508.28; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will finalize the contract with Pine Cove and schedule installation so upgraded routers are functional by July 1.
