Landover Hills council approves holiday decoration contest rules and announces winners

The Landover Hills Town Council on Dec. 15, 2025, approved rules for the town’s annual holiday decoration contest and recorded the three winning addresses.
Councilman Mike Walker moved to approve selecting the best‑decorated homes under rules that exclude houses that have won in the past two years; Councilman Oral Grant seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council recorded the winning addresses as 4115 70th Avenue, 4104 71st Avenue and 3807 70th Avenue.
Earlier in the meeting members noted that town holiday decorations have been installed, including banners, wreaths and lights on Town Hall and a redecorated tree at the 71st Avenue entrance. Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch also said he will provide Vice Mayor Glenda Johnson with email addresses so she can contact residents who expressed interest in joining a new Arts Committee.
The Youth Council meeting scheduled for December did not occur because no youths attended; the council said a meeting will be planned for January. The council adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
Implementation follow-up: Mayor and staff were tasked with outreach for Arts Committee recruitment and administratively posting the decoration contest results.
