Peck Community Schools board adopts ISD budget, approves 2026-27 calendar and hires lawn crew

The Peck Community Schools Board of Education approved the intermediate school district (ISD) budget and a set of routine agenda items during its April 16, 2026 regular meeting.
President Welch called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the board visited Jessie Anglebrandt’s classroom earlier on the agenda to view a 'numbers corners' demonstration. Guest presenter Katie VanConant delivered the ISD budget presentation to the board prior to action.
On motions and formal actions, Secretary Renee Alfaro moved to approve the minutes of the March 19, 2026 meeting and Schreiner supported the motion; the minutes were approved as presented. Lentner moved and Alfaro supported approval of the agenda as presented. MacMillan moved and Alfaro supported a motion to pay the bills and approve the financial report; the board recorded unanimous approval for these procedural items.
By roll call the board adopted the ISD budget: Alfaro yes, Collins yes, Lentner yes, MacMillan yes, Schreiner yes, Welch yes. The board also approved the 2026-27 school calendar after a motion from Collins, supported by Schreiner; the calendar vote was recorded as unanimous. The board approved hiring Carl Sawdon for lawn maintenance after a motion from Lentner and support from MacMillan; that motion was recorded as unanimous.
High School Principal Leann Kerr provided her report on important dates, special-education updates, academic requirements, adjustments to the awards ceremony, senior exam exemptions and the schedule process. Elementary Principal Gerald Pathic reported on M-STEP testing, Preschool Roundup attendance (16) and Kindergarten Roundup attendance (23), field trips and upcoming events. Superintendent Bill Kerr presented updates on business, maintenance, transportation, district operations and recognitions.
No items were raised under Old Business. Public comment and correspondence sections recorded no submissions. The board scheduled its May meeting for Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Lentner moved and Collins supported a motion to adjourn; the meeting ended at 7:05 p.m.
