The Landover Hills Town Council approved the agenda and multiple consent items at its Feb. 17 meeting and received several planning and administrative notices from county agencies.
Under correspondence the council noted that the Maryland‑National Capital Park and Planning Commission held a Jan. 13 preliminary plan hearing for Cheverly Hill (the former Prince George’s Hospital site) and is prepared to accept a preliminary subdivision application for a development on Old Landover Road between the Landover Metro station and State Road 202. The minutes also record that an apartment project at the former Lincoln Mercury dealership on Annapolis Road received final conditional‑zoning approval.
Town Treasurer Fredy Aguilar presented the January 2026 finance report and Interim Chief of Police Elnos Gomez presented the January police report. During public comment Chief Roberts of the Landover Hills Volunteer Fire Department briefed the council and said a meeting scheduled for Feb. 20 with Prince George’s County Fire Chief Michaelides was canceled.
The council moved into a closed session to discuss personnel matters under §3‑305(b)(1). The motion to convene closed session was made by Councilwoman Kathleen Walker and seconded by Vice Mayor Glenda Johnson. The minutes record the vote as Aye from Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch, Vice Mayor Glenda Johnson, Councilman Grant, Councilwoman Kathleen Walker and Councilman Todd Over. The minutes also indicate that Councilmembers Julio Murillo and Oral Grant were excused absent earlier in the record; the apparent inclusion of 'Councilman Grant' in the closed‑session vote conflicts with the attendance list and should be verified in the official record.
The council recessed into closed session at 8:58 p.m., returned to open session at 9:27 p.m., and immediately voted to adjourn on a motion by Councilman Mike Walker, seconded by Councilman Todd Over. The minutes record unanimous approval by those present.
