Landover Hills council extends food gift-card program, votes to enter closed session

The Landover Hills Town Council at its Feb. 2 workshop approved an extension of the town’s Food Gift Card Program for one month, through March 1, 2026.
Councilman Oral Grant moved to extend the program; Councilman Julio Murillo seconded. The minutes record that all present — Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch, Vice Mayor Glenda Johnson, Councilmembers Mike Walker, Julio Murillo, Oral Grant and Councilwoman Kathleen Walker — voted in favor. Councilman Todd Over was excused.
Later in the meeting Councilman Mike Walker moved that the council go into a closed session under the General Provisions Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland §3-305(b)(1) to discuss personnel matters; Councilwoman Kathleen Walker seconded. The minutes record aye votes from Mayor Schomisch, Vice Mayor Johnson, Councilmembers Walker, Murillo, Grant and Councilwoman Walker and state the council adjourned into closed session at 7:54 p.m.
Vice Mayor Glenda Johnson moved to return to open session for the purpose of adjourning; Councilwoman Kathleen Walker seconded. The motion carried unanimously and the meeting adjourned at 9:01 p.m.
