Mayor Jeffrey Schomisch told the council on Nov. 17 that he attended a meeting with volunteers and the new Prince George’s County Fire Chief and will draft a resolution expressing the town’s support for the Landover Hills Volunteer Fire Department.
The mayor said the draft resolution will request reinstatement of the volunteer fire department at the Landover Hills Fire Station and that the council will consider the resolution at its Dec. 1 workshop. No formal vote or final action on the resolution occurred at the Nov. 17 meeting.
Council members who attended the Prince George's County Municipal Association meeting — including Mike Walker and Kathleen Walker — were also noted as participating via Zoom in county discussion about tax differentials affecting municipal services.
The council did not provide language for the resolution at the Nov. 17 meeting; the matter will return for consideration at the Dec. 1 workshop.
