The Mayor and Board of Selectmen of the City of Plaquemine voted unanimously June 23 to adopt Ordinance Number 459, which amends the city's consolidated statement of revenues and expenditures for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Mayor John "JB" Barker reported there were no changes to the proposed amendments since the committee meeting on May 26, 2026. Selectman Brent Barbier offered the ordinance and Selectman Thomas D. LeBlanc seconded the motion to adopt.
The ordinance text lists amended totals across funds. Combined total revenues are shown as $33,116,645; total expenditures/expenses are listed as $33,361,360. The consolidated end-of-year fund balance is listed as $32,081,394. Line-item categories in the ordinance include General Fund, Special Revenue, Capital Projects, Debt Service and Enterprise system amounts; the ordinance references compliance with the Louisiana Local Government Budget Act.
The measure was adopted by roll call: Yeas ' Natasha S. Johnson, Brent Barbier, Michael K. Carlin, Sr., Wanda B. Jones, Thomas D. LeBlanc and Shannon P. Courtade; Nays: none; Absent: none.
The ordinance text states it "shall become effective as provided by law." No public comments were registered on the budget amendments during the public hearing portion of the meeting.
The board adjourned the public hearing portion at 5:47 p.m. and continued its special meeting business thereafter.
