Monona County schedules Aug. 25 hearing on Oliver Lake ditch repairs

On July 7, 2026, the Monona County Board of Supervisors, acting as Drainage Trustees, tentatively approved the Engineer’s Report recommending open ditch repairs for Oliver Lake Lateral 2 and Lateral 3 and set a public hearing for 10 a.m. on Aug. 25, 2026, in the courthouse annex basement. The motion to tentatively approve the report passed unanimously.

The hearing will also serve as the bid opening for the Oliver Lake Main cleanout and the Lateral 2 and 3 repairs, which the trustees said will be combined and bid as a single project. Board members noted that the Oliver Lake Main had previously been the subject of a hearing on Sept. 9, 2025. The decision to combine the projects is intended to coordinate procurement and scheduling; trustees did not take further substantive action at the July 7 meeting.

Attendees for the drainage session included Drainage Clerks Amy Borchardt-Sick and Ashley Brown, ISG Engineer Amanda Goodenow, Harrison County Supervisor Rebecca Wilkerson (via Zoom), representatives from AgriVia Engineers Tyler Buman and Jacob Hagan, and IT Director Jim Wigton. Discussion included the McNeill Intercounty Drainage District Commissioner’s Report regarding reclassification of benefits; that report was discussed but not acted on at the meeting.

The tentative approval of the Engineer’s Report and the Aug. 25 hearing date provide the formal next steps: trustees will receive public comment and open combined bids at the hearing before making final determinations on benefit reclassification and any contract awards.
