Okauchee Lake Management District elects Brian Sichi, approves 2024 budget

The Okauchee Lake Management District approved its proposed 2024 budget and elected a new commissioner at the annual meeting Aug. 28, 2023, at the Town of Oconomowoc Town Hall.
Dee Schriver, acting temporary chairperson and treasurer, presented the financials and a proposed 2024 budget that lists $409,725 in revenue and $409,775 in total expenses. The board proposed a riparian charge of $293.80 for 2024, up from $287.86 in 2023 (about a 2% increase). The motion to adopt the proposed budget was made by Brian Sichi and seconded by John Butler; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting opened routine business by approving the 2022 annual meeting minutes and accepting the July 2023 Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer reported July 2023 revenues of $306,622.61, expenditures of $219,788.43 and a balance of $170,834.18. Susan Lincoln moved to approve the minutes and Jonathon Long seconded; Jonathon Long moved to accept the Treasurer’s report and Liz Heidenreich seconded both motions passed unanimously.
On nominations for the open commissioner seat, Jeff Smith nominated Jonathon Long and Kara Krueger nominated Brian Sichi. After candidate statements, Tom Godar, the board secretary, announced that Brian Sichi received the most votes and will serve a three-year term from 2023 to 2026. Sichi thanked the attendees and noted the board’s emphasis on preventative maintenance to keep rate increases low.
Procedurally, the board voted to adjourn at 8:34 p.m. (Greg Hirt moved; Keith Granum seconded).
