The Neillsville Grants Committee received an update on multiple grant applications and awards at its June 23 meeting.
Chair Natalie Erpenbach reported on cybersecurity funding from the Wisconsin Emergency Management office. A prior Cybersecurity Grant (Cycle 1) was for $42,000, with a final reimbursement of $7,538.25 still pending; the next project report for that award is due July 12, 2026. A second Cybersecurity Grant (Cycle 2) for $82,600 was awarded to cover managed service costs and multi-factor authentication (MFA) fobs; the grant period runs January 2026 through August 2027. Jan. 2026 expenses of $3,633.74 have been submitted for reimbursement under that award, and the next project report for Cycle 2 is due August 12, 2026.
Erpenbach said she is working with property owners on a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Community Development Investment Grant (CDIG) for a project at 150 E. Division St.; the business opened in late May and Erpenbach will help owners complete the grant requirements. The committee also discussed a possible July 2026 request related to the Listeman Foundation; Erpenbach, Petkovsek and Friemoth will follow up.
Tourism Room Tax grants awarded to the City were listed: $1,500 to the Historic Preservation Commission (reported claimed and received), $1,500 to Beautification, and $500 to the Murals Committee. Erpenbach said she contacted Fire Chief Meyer about the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant (due June 22); Chief Meyer indicated the city did not need to apply.
The committee also noted other areas to watch for grant funding: updating the city comprehensive plan, sidewalks and streets, arboretum improvements (possible use of TID No. 4 funds), and playground equipment for Listeman Park and citywide playground replacement. Chief Mankowski is applying for the League of Municipalities Insurance program annual grant.
Procedural votes: the committee approved the agenda and the May 19, 2026 Grants Committee minutes by voice vote (all aye). Deanna Heiman moved and Brent Shoup seconded adjournment later in the meeting; that motion carried by voice vote and the meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
