Dr. Parker announced that Dr. Lori Katz was selected by her peers as District 10 principal of the year, an award sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals. Dr. Parker invited Dr. Katz to receive a certificate; Dr. Katz thanked colleagues and staff, saying she "stands on the shoulders of giants" and praising teachers who "give their all every day for kids."
The board reviewed upcoming dates: school offices reopen July 21; new-teacher orientation is scheduled for July 27–28; 65-plus community events are set for July 29 (8–10 a.m.) and Aug. 5 (2–4 p.m.); teachers return Aug. 3; back-to-school nights are Aug. 3–4; and the first student day is Aug. 6. Dr. Parker also announced that the 8c3 program will open this year at Amplify Hancock. She said enrollment is at about 450 and the program/space caps at 556, and she credited county partners and Stan Wilkerson for support.
