Lee County committee hears staffing, election-mail postcard, road schedule and veterans updates

Elections staffing and postcard: Nancy (county clerk and recorder) announced a new hire in the election department, Bridget Tuft, who will work alongside Deb Phillips; Nancy said a mandatory postcard required by the state board of elections will go to about 22,000 registered voters asking whether they want to be on a permanent vote‑by‑mail list and noted the postcard differs from the standard registered‑voter card.
Roads and maintenance: Dave (transportation) said much of Lee County’s roadwork will be compressed into the latter half of summer. "There's about $1,700,000 worth of work that's essentially scattered out... that'll have to be done within about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on weather," he said. He also listed hot‑mix projects scheduled for late August and mid‑September and a Sept. 15 completion deadline for Indian Head Road work.
Veterans services: Jim Gordon and Bruce reported June activity in veterans assistance, described roughly 49 monthly interactions tracked in VetPro and said the program is down to about four active volunteer drivers after a recent failed physical; Bruce said he is awaiting accreditation paperwork that will allow more direct filing from his desk.
Adjournment: With no executive session required, Ally moved to adjourn, Kevin seconded, and the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
