School board approves ACP 'education for employment' plan for online posting

The New London School District Board voted to approve the district's Academic and Career Planning (ACP), also called the Education for Employment plan, and to post the final document on the district website before the end of April to meet state compliance requirements.
Presenter (district staff) told the board the plan compiles labor-market information drawn from Xello, outlines family-engagement work such as 10th-grade ACP conferences and junior parent/financial-aid nights, and inventories career-readiness course offerings, youth-apprenticeship placements and work-based learning. "The ACP ... documents all the wonderful things that are already happening here at New London," the presenter said, adding the plan also proposes goals and areas for additional staff support and earlier ACP lessons in younger grades.
The presenter said a university (identified in the meeting as University of Wisconsin'Madison) processed recently collected SYNC survey data and that the district expects coalition-level results this summer to shape ACP goals. The plan also explains how ACP work is integrated with IEP and transition planning for students with disabilities and lists professional-development supports for counselors and teachers.
Board members asked for concise summary versions for parents; one trustee suggested a one-page, grade-level summary linked from the full 21-page document. After brief discussion, a trustee moved to approve the plan for posting and the board indicated assent by voice vote.
Next steps include publishing the plan on the district website to satisfy the state's April review timing and using audit results to guide next-year professional learning and ACP lesson embedding across grade levels.
