At the Feb. 25 meeting the New London School District recognized student and staff achievements across grade levels and highlighted several upcoming calendar items.
Director congratulated elementary and middle students for character recognitions and noted a districtwide professional learning day when students will not be in session. The district's official January physical attendance was stated as 1,928.
Sarah Johnson (introduced by the chair) described special-education practices including functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans, explaining how teams analyze setting events, triggers and unmet needs and create interventions collaboratively with families. She invited families to a building-connections special-education meeting scheduled the next morning.
High-school successes were also highlighted: the dance team qualified for state, wrestling won a conference championship, and several teams and music ensembles had upcoming competitions and performances. Open enrollment was noted as open from Feb. 2 through April 30.
