Montrose County commissioners approve road maintenance contract, equipment repairs, IT purchases and multiple subdivision plats

The Montrose County Board of Commissioners on May 7 approved a series of routine but consequential administrative actions, including a $299,864.41 contract for county road paint striping, IT equipment purchases, vehicle and equipment repairs, a corrected purchase price for a 2026 trailer, and approval of four subdivision plats.
Public Works Interim Director Brandon Wallace presented the 2025 paint-striping construction contract to Stripe A Lot, Inc. of Montrose for $299,864.41; Commissioner Sue Hansen moved to authorize the chair’s signature, Commissioner Sean Pond seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Information Technology Director Matt Weed presented a sole-source purchase request for 99 Dell desktop computers under the State NASPO contract for a budgeted cost of $118,632.54, and the board approved that purchase on the consent agenda. Matt Weed also presented a UKG contract renewal for time and attendance, payroll and HR services with an annual recurring cost of $133,946.88; counsel had reviewed the contract and the board approved the renewal as part of the consent agenda.
The board approved repair authorizations for county fleet equipment: $64,652.95 to repair a 2011 Road Asphalt Paver Unit #1770 (4Rivers Equipment) and $35,318.75 for a 2001 Motorgrader Unit #1994 (Wagner Equipment). Commissioners also acknowledged a corrected purchase price for a 2026 Trail King hydraulic sliding-axle trailer: the corrected figure is $125,044.00.
The Sheriff presented an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) for law enforcement services with the Town of Nucla for the chair’s signature; the board approved the IGA. Public Works also brought a request to authorize a transfer of the mineral permit and succession of operators for the Donley Rock Quarry to Rock Bottom, contingent on state approval; the board approved that application packet for signature.
Planning & Development items approved included final-plat and minor-subdivision actions: Two Stephens Subdivision (divide 13.3 acres into two lots), Gerken Minor Subdivision (divide one lot from 40 acres), Jay Jay Minor Subdivision (24.09 acres into three lots) and Mountain View Estates Minor Subdivision (three lots from 79.61 acres). Each planning item was presented by staff, carried a motion, and was approved unanimously.
