Town Manager Jon Peacock reported proposed staffing changes intended to increase the town’s capacity without impacting the budget. Peacock said the proposal would eliminate the Climate Action Planner position and add a Human Resources Coordinator, a Town Engineer/Project Manager, and a Best and Brightest intern; he also noted a CSU summer intern already in place. Council offered informal approval by a thumbs-up gesture.
Peacock said High-Note Thursdays kicks off June 18 and will include a 4:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting for the new Hideaway Park playground. He said staff will use High-Note Thursdays events for community engagement on designs for the Aerial Transit System (ATS) downtown landing portal. Public Works Director Jamie Wolter told council that fencing at the new playground will be delayed due to manufacturer issues and that he will pursue cost estimates for required skate-park concrete repairs during the budget process.
Peacock said the childcare incentive program is moving forward and, contingent on funding, could be implemented in July. He also recognized the Fraser Winter Park Police Department for its response to an incident the prior night. No formal council action was required for the staffing discussion; council gave informal direction to proceed with the proposed staffing changes.
