Council awards 2026 asphalt contract to New West Paving amid higher bids

The Winter Park Town Council on June 16 awarded the town’s 2026 asphalt rehabilitation contract to New West Paving after receiving two bids. Public Works Director Jamie Wolter said New West was the low bidder at $819,713. Wolter told the council that the town’s original engineer estimate was $475,000 but rising oil prices and inflation made that estimate insufficient; staff and the town engineers reduced the project scope, bringing a revised scope estimate to $606,528.
Wolter emphasized that all proposed work is needed but that staff trimmed scope to remain budget conscious. The council voted 7-0 to approve Resolution 2328 and award the contract to New West Paving.
