Winter Park launches microtransit pilot and accepts $443,157 SB-230 grant for ROX route

The Winter Park Town Council on June 16 approved a package of transit actions: an amendment to the town’s contract with Transdev to operate a new microtransit pilot, an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Grand County for the ROX (Rocky Mountain Express) Granby–Grand Lake connector, and acceptance of related grants totaling $476,682.
Transit Manager Charles McCarthy told the council the microtransit pilot began June 15, will be operated by Transdev using two new cutaway vehicles, and is schedulable through the Lift Flex app or by phone dispatch. McCarthy said the SB-230 Clean Transit Enterprise Fund covered 66% of the microtransit program cost, leaving a town share of $58,397. He also said staff will conduct outreach in Fraser to explore expanding service there.
McCarthy said the town was awarded $443,157 for the ROX Granby–Grand Lake connector route; because the route stops in Grand County, an IGA with Grand County is required. The council also authorized acceptance of a $33,525 Grand County Community Priorities Grant for the connector. Council approved Resolution 2326 (Transdev amendment), Resolution 2327 (Grand County IGA) and Resolution 2329 (grant acceptance) by 7-0 votes.
All three resolutions passed unanimously. Staff said the microtransit pilot and the connector are intended to expand local and regional transit options; further operational details and outreach plans will be handled by the transit manager and staff.
