The Winter Park Town Council on June 16 approved Resolution 2324, authorizing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that directs the Town Manager to enter good-faith negotiations with Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. over the potential sale of town-owned land above the Public Works facility for an electric substation.
Town Manager Jon Peacock told the council the site under consideration sits above the Public Works facility and that Mountain Parks Electric expects to require roughly five to six acres. Peacock said the town will seek to negotiate terms that preserve some current uses of the parcel; the resolution authorizes the manager to execute the MOU but does not itself transfer title or finalize a sale.
The council voted 7-0 to approve the MOU. The resolution materials included a staff report, the proposed MOU, and a property record card; councilors did not request additional public hearings at the meeting. Next steps are negotiations between town staff and Mountain Parks Electric and any future proposals to the council would return for formal approval if a sale or other binding agreement is proposed.
