At the July 7 council meeting the chair of Economic and Community Development reported that the city submitted an application to designate an area as an opportunity zone, plans to issue a request for qualifications for the Arco property on Aurora Road, and received a $200,000 supplemental grant from the county to be used for Aurora Road repairs.
Chairman Tinker said the county has agreed to assist the city with the master plan, the opportunity-zone application has been filed, and the supplemental $200,000 grant will be applied to Aurora Road repair work. No formal council action was recorded on the opportunity-zone application or RFQ at the meeting; these were reported as committee updates.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the RFQ for the Arco property and coordinate with the county on master-plan activities and grant execution.
