Erath County approves Asset Remap contract to digitize EMS protocols; commissioners cite life‑saving use of blood on local ambulance

Erath County Commissioners Court on July 13 approved a three‑year contract with Asset Remap LLC to convert the county’s roughly 200‑page EMS protocol document into an app accessible to field crews.

The vendor representative described the platform’s advantages for emergency medical personnel: making protocols searchable and pushing same‑day updates when doctors change standing orders or dosages. "It just makes it a lot more accessible to the crew members that get in a challenging call," the presenter said.

County staff explained the contract terms to the court: a $500 one‑time onboarding fee and $1,000 per year for three years (totaling $3,500). After brief discussion, Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Edwards seconded; the court approved the motion by voice vote.

During the discussion, EMS staff recounted a recent local motorcycle crash in which county crews provided on‑scene blood transfusion and stabilized the patient before air transport. The EMS account described a rapid, life‑saving intervention; a court speaker summed it up: "The blood saved his life." County leaders used the story to underscore the operational importance of fast access to protocols in the field.

No additional budget appropriation beyond the contract was recorded at the meeting; staff said the item will be incorporated into the operating budget and that training and rollout plans will be coordinated with frontline crews.
