"You'll need a motion to amend 2026-041 to clarify that the flag is to be flown from June 1 to the next business day after the June 2 holiday," counsel said during the discussion.
After council debate the motion to amend was put forward, seconded and carried in voice votes, and the chair directed staff to prepare the ordinance reflecting the clarified dates and the requirement that flags be flown at all municipal locations.
The council did not finalize every drafting detail during the meeting and sent the revised language back to staff and the law department for precise wording.
