Staff outlines downtown parking grants, park and permit activity; comp‑plan interim TSP noticed for Aug. 10

Planner Jeff Wilcox said staff is pursuing four shared downtown parking areas that include stormwater treatment; the projects rely on federal grant money and are intended to support adjacent commercial businesses. He also reported grant funding for vegetation work and interpretive improvements at the Civic Center natural area and described planned improvements to Blue Heron Park. Wilcox said an intern is updating the city’s water‑infrastructure mapping.
Staff noted the comprehensive‑plan interim transportation system plan has been noticed and will come to the commission on Aug. 10 for review and then to city council for final action. Wilcox also said the department processed 176 building permits in the first half of the year and that new multifamily projects are coming in PH‑3 (the north corridor identified in the packet).
No formal action was taken on these informational items; staff asked commissioners to expect more detailed project materials and bid schedules later in the summer.
