Clifton council supports exploring resident-led Neighborhood Watch and oral-history workshop

Councilmember Darrell Poe reported a suspicious incident captured on video that prompted discussion of a resident-led Neighborhood Watch. Mayor Bill Hollaway outlined the basic expectation: "Watch means observe and report," meaning volunteers would contact local police with details and use a designated phone number and information checklist. Poe said he would seek an organization to provide Neighborhood Watch training; Councilmember Melissa Milne said she would reach out to the resident who has been leading the initiative. The Council indicated it may provide nominal funding for equipment and training and could support signage and a volunteer committee as long as Council support was prominent.
Separately, the Council noted a history committee item: a documentary filmmaker will host a workshop to train participants in using oral-history equipment for the Oral History Project; members will contact Councilmember Wayne Nickum to seek his involvement in the project.
