Morrison County approves feedlot and mini‑storage permits, adopts semiquincentennial resolution

During its July 14 meeting the Morrison County Board approved multiple land‑use items and adopted a ceremonial resolution.

Feedlot: The board approved an after‑the‑fact conditional use permit for David and Sarah Brucher to expand to a tier‑4 dairy feedlot. Staff recommended five conditions: seed the existing berm before manure pit construction, cap the operation at 1,568 animal units (staff noted tier‑4 storage could allow up to 2,500 animal units only after separate review), move calf hutches to meet road right‑of‑way setbacks, revegetate and maintain the north pasture, and obtain an SDS permit from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). Commissioners approved the CUP following staff explanation.

Mini‑storage: The board also approved a CUP for Platte River Prairie LLC to establish a mini‑storage business, with three standard conditions: no water or sewer service to units, no outdoor storage, and exclusive use of the parcel for storage rental.

Resolution and next steps: The board adopted a resolution recognizing July 4, 2026 as America's semiquincentennial and encouraged county participation; administrators and staff planned to send a certified copy to the state commission. The meeting adjourned into a closed session to consider purchase of property at 312 East Broadway in Little Falls.
