District schedules Internet-safety presentation and outlines reunification drills and safety partnerships

Presenter told the board the district will host an “Internet Crimes Against Children and SEXTORTION presentation” on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium, in partnership with county sheriff’s offices. Presenter said the district will provide age-appropriate, shorter presentations for students in grades 5–12 and will send parents an opt-out notice for student sessions.
A committee member who has attended past presentations described them as well attended and highly relevant; staff and local law enforcement have provided positive feedback and suggested the content is rapidly changing and useful for families. Presenter also summarized recent reunification drills and regional coordination among superintendents, SROs, and emergency-management officials; staff said they are moving toward common safety platforms and plan a larger countywide reunification drill next October.
Presenter thanked local schools and volunteers who supported safety exercises and community events, noted successful recycling and drug take-back efforts that raised funds for a food pantry, and encouraged board members and the public to attend upcoming informational events.
