Brownsboro Village officials said two contractors told the City Commission the village streets are structurally sound, following a walk-through conducted with Flynn Brothers and a separate review by Louisville Paving.
Commissioner Maryellen Howley reported resident concerns about pavement and described a joint inspection with Mayor Mark Joyce and Commissioner Brian Willis to identify tripping hazards and collect repair quotes. Mayor Mark Joyce told the commission both Flynn Brothers and Louisville Paving confirmed the streets are structurally sound; Commissioner Brian Willis said he felt more comfortable about the street conditions after walking them with Flynn Brothers.
On sidewalks, Mayor Joyce reviewed payment options suggested by the Kentucky League of Cities for addressing non‑compliant sidewalks: one approach is removal and replacement with sod, with the city potentially sharing related fees with property owners. He said the city could also apply for grant funding to repair and replace non‑compliant sidewalks. Ethics Administrator Dana Lindley shared focus areas on Napanee Road and asked commissioners to review those locations.
Commissioner Howley additionally reported she placed solar lighting at the city entrance for a trial period and will continue coordination with LG&E. The Garden Club meeting was announced for Aug. 22.
No contractor quotes, cost estimates, or formal repair schedule were presented in the minutes and were not specified.
