Board presses staff on enforcement and safety after reports of rowdy behavior at the pool

At the June 8 meeting board members raised concerns about recent reports of rowdy behavior at the pool, including vulgar language and rough conduct among groups of teenagers.
Ryan asked whether staff are empowered to remove problematic patrons and whether rules are posted. Park superintendent said rules are posted and that managers are on site, but acknowledged the challenge when managers are near the same age as the teenagers involved. Board members recommended a meeting with the pool director and managers, suggested joint visits with a police officer or non-emergency calls when incidents escalate, and discussed coaching and role-play training so lifeguards/managers feel confident enforcing rules.
The chair asked staff to contact the pool director and to set up a meeting with managers and, if appropriate, law enforcement so the staff know the escalation path and community expectations for safety and behavior.
