Board members on June 8 discussed upgrades to the City of Pacific parks web pages and the potential to add an online reservation system for pavilions and other park resources.
Chair said she had contacted Tiffany Wilson, who currently manages the parks webpage, and proposed adding photos and maps to make parks information accessible in one or two clicks. Residents and other board members described user-friendly systems they've seen, including Eureka's site that blocked out reserved dates and allowed full online booking.
Members discussed whether pavilion rentals should remain full-day or move to hourly blocks. Park superintendent and staff noted a daily rental system is currently simpler but switchable to hourly if the reservation software supports time slots; staff also flagged the need to schedule maintenance checks and manage increased administrative tasks. Several participants suggested a parks-specific calendar distinct from board meeting schedules so patrons could easily see availability.
Board asked staff to continue outreach to determine cost and implementation steps; Chair volunteered to follow up with Tiffany Wilson and report options at the next meeting.
