At its Sept. 9 meeting the council approved payment of $1,000 for additional signage for the Blue Ridge Historical Trail after a motion from a council member and a second from the chair.
Staff also briefed the council on special-event permit applications: a 2025 Southern Shows "Alien Festival" (June 14, 2025) and the Rotary Club’s Springbark Barbecue Festival on Oct. 5. Staff told the council the Rotary application includes insurance, maps and is complete for consideration.
Who moved and how it voted: A council member made the motion to fund the Blue Ridge Historical Trail signage; the chair seconded. The meeting record shows at least one councilor voting "Aye" before the item was closed out. Staff said signage would be placed at Riverside and Riverbend parks.
The council did not adopt any additional policy changes related to events at the Sept. 9 meeting; staff said they will continue to coordinate event logistics and permits with applicants.
