Fayette County awards multiple contracts for facilities, roads, water and public safety systems

At its June 25 meeting, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners approved several contract awards and renewals spanning facilities, roads, water infrastructure and public safety technology.
The Board approved a three‑year, $271,676 award to Siemens Industry Inc. for maintenance of building automation equipment and software across the Justice Center, jail facilities and library. Administrator Rapson said staff will review the contract in a year.
The Board approved renewal five of six for the Carbyne Public Safety Ecosystem in the amount of $290,000 to maintain location accuracy and real‑time video capabilities for emergency response.
The Board awarded Renewal #1 of Contract #2596‑B for annual asphalt delivery to C.W. Matthews Inc. with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $450,000 for in‑house paving, patching and resurfacing. Renewal 1 of Contract 2563‑B, the annual on‑call contract for water distribution and stormwater infrastructure, was awarded to Shockley Plumbing with fixed prices established per assigned project; the meeting record contains an internal inconsistency on the recorded final vote for this item (see audit notes).
For water infrastructure maintenance, the Board approved a renewal to American Tank Maintenance for elevated water storage tank maintenance with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $659,907 and approved water treatment chemical renewals for Brenntag Mid‑South and Chemtrade for a combined not‑to‑exceed $514,933.
Finally, the Board approved Contract #26139‑S to Lister, Holt, & Dennis LLC to provide State Court appointed counsel services to indigent defendants in the amount of $756,000; Judge Jason Thompson said he was pleased with the firm's service.
All contract awards were advanced by staff recommendation and approved by the Board.
