Commission signs Louisville Paving proposal, schedules city-wide yard sale; Village Gardeners decline partnership

At the May 20, 2025 meeting the commission addressed streets and community events.
Commissioner Maryellen Howley presented a proposal from Louisville Paving to pave city streets; Mayor Mark Joyce signed the proposal during the meeting. Howley also announced that Village Gardeners will not partner with the city to sponsor a city-wide event and that the group will not accept city funds.
Commissioner Fay Dorval reported having received three requests to host a city-wide yard sale and noted Druid Hills will host its yard sale on June 14. The commission confirmed it will host a city-wide yard sale on June 14 and agreed to share advertising costs with Druid Hills. The commission also decided to stop using the calendar on the city website for recurring notifications and events.
Other short items included Commissioner Whitney Hankins raising proposed fencing around trash cans on Lotis Way and Commissioner Brian Willis reporting complaints about street light outages. The Tree Board had no report at this session.
The commission approved routine financial and administrative items earlier in the meeting and adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
