Brownsboro Village commission approves minutes, financial statements and $450 newsletter; Village Gardeners to present event budget

At the April 8, 2025 Brownsboro Village City Commission meeting, commissioners approved the March 11 minutes and the cash-basis February and March 2025 financial statements by voice vote.
Commissioner Maryellen Howley moved and Commissioner Brian Willis seconded approval of the March minutes. Treasurer Brian Shanks presented the February statement; Commissioner Brian Willis moved and Commissioner Howley seconded approval of the February financials. Shanks then presented March financials; Commissioner Fay Dorval moved and Commissioner Howley seconded approval of the March statement. All motions passed by voice vote.
Ethics Administrator Dana Lindley reported that the inaugural City newsletter was ready to be printed and presented associated costs. Mayor Mark Joyce moved and Commissioner Brian Willis seconded allocating $450 to issue a quarterly city newsletter; the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioner Howley said she “did not believe the City Newsletter was necessary,” while Mayor Joyce said the goal of the newsletter is "to bring the community together."
Commissioner Howley announced that the Garden Club will now be known as the Village Gardeners and requested a $500 budget for the upcoming year; Commissioner Fay Dorval suggested members cover monthly meeting costs and the city sponsor one larger annual event. Commissioner Howley moved and Commissioner Brian Willis seconded a motion that the Village Gardeners plan a major event this year and present a budget to the commission for sponsorship; the motion passed by voice vote.
Under unfinished business Ethics Administrator Dana Lindley reported that Flynn Brothers is scheduled to work on two property owners' sidewalks on Napanee Road. Commissioner Fay Dorval announced the Lights Out Louisville bird-migration initiative and said she will circulate information to residents. The commission set its regular monthly meeting time at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday and recorded host addresses for May–December 2025. Commissioner Howley moved and Commissioner Dorval seconded adjournment; the meeting ended at 7:52 p.m.
