Board OKs rooftop-deck repairs and small head-house at 30 Market Street

The Lowell Historic Board voted July 13 to approve replacement of rooftop decks, refurbishment of handrails and a small head-house addition at 30 Market Street, the condominium property managed by Dutch Property Management.
Brad Buebenhuys of Dutch Property Management described work that includes replacing the roof membrane, installing Trex decking, sandblasting and repairing handrails (with one unit proposing a low-visibility cable rail), and rebuilding a head house to replace a spiral staircase with a straight set of stairs. He said the work is visible only from Central Street and one parking-lot vantage point across the canal and that colors and trims will match existing materials.
A board member said the proposed changes are not significant and moved to approve; another member seconded and the board voted unanimously to grant the permit. The applicant thanked the board and said work would proceed.
