Northwest Arctic Borough commission accepts Village Improvement Fund report, debates Teck proceeds and sustainability set‑aside

The Northwest Arctic Borough Village Improvement Commission on April 21, 2026, in Kotzebue accepted the Village Improvement Fund 2025 annual report with noted adjustments and discussed how to handle payments connected to the pending sale of Teck.

Commissioners discussed whether to set aside a fixed percentage of incoming payments for the sustainability fund; Adams recommended a 5% allocation.

The commission tabled approval of the Feb. 11, 2026 meeting minutes until the next regular meeting and set its next meeting for June 3–4, 2026 in Kotzebue, requesting an in‑person session. No public comments were presented. The meeting adjourned at 11:14 a.m.
