Danville officials say Kingston dam work could affect Long Pond wells; informational meeting July 1

Town staff told the Danville Board of Selectmen on June 29 that work on a dam at the east end of Long Pond in neighboring Kingston may affect wells that draw water from the pond.
Vale M. Van Doorne-Freeman, the selectmen's administrator, said the board had received a courtesy letter from R. Griffin of LER Realty Co. and that the letter included notice of an informational meeting scheduled for July 1 at 7 p.m. at Kingston Town Hall. Vale said the letter was being shared in case town residents with wells drawing from Long Pond needed to be informed. She also suggested sending a copy to Amy Burie, chairwoman of the Danville Long Pond Protective Association, and the board agreed to add the meeting to Danville's calendar.
Board members noted that the state Department of Environmental Services (DES) would likely be involved in a project of this nature. No formal action or vote was recorded on the dam letter beyond adding the meeting to the calendar and forwarding the notice to the local association.
Next steps: Vale will send the letter to Amy Burie so the association can notify area property owners; Danville will list the Kingston meeting on its calendar so residents are aware of the informational session.
