G. Harrington, chair of the Winter Harbor selectmen, called the Aug. 25 meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The board approved routine financial business, including meeting minutes, warrants, the treasurer's and tax collector's reports, and signed the town's tax commitment and a quitclaim deed.
The treasurer's report (dated Aug. 22, 2025) reported a Trio-General Ledger balance of $593,409.23, a six-month certificate of deposit of $105,382.87 and bond investments with a market value reported at about $3.5 million. Town payroll #8 totaled $15,896.32 and accounts payable #9 totaled $49,217.06, for a combined total of $65,113.38. The Tax Collector's Report showed FY25 taxes receivable of $29,160.88 (98.82% collected) and FY24 receivables of $3,712.75 (99.82% collected).
The Fire Chief/Road Commissioner reported that a restorationist approached a firefighter during the lobster festival with an offer to purchase the department's ladder truck. The board approved the sale of the ladder truck for $5,000 and agreed the proceeds would go toward purchasing a new fire truck; department members had voted to contribute festival funds to the town for that purpose.
On town property, the marina on Sargent Street was discussed after a presentation by Pearl Barto. The board said it wants a public meeting to allow broader community input before any sale or disposition moves forward.
Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb provided administrative updates, including a reminder the town office will be closed Aug. 26—Aug. 27 for training. During public comment M. Riley suggested specific information the board should request from the town's investment portfolio representative.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.; the board entered executive session on personnel matters under 1 M.R.S.A. § 405(6)(A) at 7:03 p.m. and exited at 7:07 p.m.
