Town manager: Winter Harbor won’t get a new tabulator; marina meeting scheduled, public comments note visitor spike

Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb told the Selectmen on Sept. 8 that Winter Harbor will not receive a new tabulator machine for the November election because, she said, the Secretary of State has not gone out to bid for the equipment for the third consecutive year.

Liscomb also provided routine updates: she will attend an upcoming networking day, confirmed that tax bills have been mailed, and said the personnel policy needs a missing section restored before being returned to a future agenda. The minutes note that selectmen had no additional issues and the chairman had no items.

Selectmen recorded that a public meeting regarding the marina has been scheduled; the minutes do not provide a date or additional details about the meeting.

During public comment, P. Barto reported attending an Acadia National Park meeting and said the park provided data showing a 16.6% increase in visitors to Schoodic Point this year. Another commenter, S. Fortin, asked for a copy of the documents provided by the bank.

The minutes list several FYI items distributed to the board, including a Schoodic EMS report, the town investment statement and thank-you letters. The regular meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. and the board went into executive session for personnel matters at 7:03 p.m.
