On budgets and the revolving fund, staff said they are reviewing program lines to determine what must be carried into the next fiscal year and expect a clearer accounting within a week. The acting director said, “we had 1,000 dollars still left to get reimbursed, out of 15,000,” and described prompt follow-up with United Way to secure the funds and end-of-year reporting that will qualify the department for future rounds.
Staff described the software migration from MyRec to Rec Technologies, with training underway and a plan to retain the old system until September to export program and financial records. The acting director also said she is working to streamline special-event and permit workflows to ensure highway, police and fire signatures occur before commission sign-off.
Other operational items included planning for fall programs (restarting Third Thursdays and Oktoberfest), outreach on a possible MOU for use of school facilities (Shaker Lane), and noting that a neighborhood meeting at Long Lake produced useful resident feedback. Commissioners discussed program cancellations, potential changes to rental pricing and locking procedures for paddle boards, and staffing and lifeguard coverage for an upcoming triathlon.
Next steps: staff will finish the revolving-fund review, continue the Rec Technologies implementation with finance and IT, finalize United Way reporting, and follow up on community feedback from the Long Lake neighborhood meeting.
