Staff reported Calvert City currently lists a $20 per day per field/court baseline and that lining fields would be an additional charge.
Members debated whether to allow hourly reservations, half-day options or only full-day rentals. Several committee members pushed to keep pricing simple to avoid administrative burden; one committee member suggested standardizing on half-day (8 a.m.–2 p.m.) or full-day rates and setting tournament minimums at either four or eight courts. Discussion also covered resident/nonresident and nonprofit differentials, with multiple members supporting discounts for local nonprofits. The parks staff member emphasized staffing and maintenance costs — citing roughly $50 per hour per worker and that two-person site visits average about $100 — and said those operational costs should factor into any price recommendation.
No final rate was adopted; members asked staff to prepare a specific pricing recommendation for the next meeting or a budget workshop, including staffing cost estimates and proposed resident/nonresident and nonprofit rates.
The group confirmed a policy requiring sports-league or tournament agreements to be submitted at least one full week before the scheduled field use so staff can prepare the site.
