Selectboard authorizes trapper at Sportsmen’s Pond, Sportsmen’s Club signals support for 4‑H

The Greenfield Selectboard voted unanimously March 11 to authorize hiring a trapper at the Sportsmen’s Club pond, after a request from a member of the club.
Gary Russell, a member of the Sportsmen’s Club, told the board the pond needs a trapper. “The Board discussed and voted 3-0 in favor of authorizing the hiring of a trapper, with the Town Administrator to sign the permission,” the meeting record states. The board recorded a 3-0 vote in favor of authorizing the hire and directed Town Administrator Aaron Patt to sign the permission form.
Russell also told the board the Club is interested in supporting 4‑H programming at Oak Park and indicated the Club may apply in the future for an Intent to Cut on property it manages. The Selectboard expressed support for those plans but did not take a separate formal action on the 4‑H support or any Intent to Cut application at the March 11 meeting.
The authorization for the trapper was recorded during the public forum portion of the meeting. No funding amount for the trapper was specified in the record; the Town Administrator was assigned to complete and sign the necessary permission paperwork.
The Selectboard closed the public forum after thanking Russell for his work with the Sportsmen’s Club.
