Hancock County Commission honors former commissioner John Sorrenti

The resolution cited Sorrenti’s years of public service, his time on the Weirton City Council, and his past leadership roles with the West Virginia Association of Counties and the County Commissioners Association of West Virginia.
John Sorrenti, who was invited forward to accept the recognition, told commissioners he did not serve for personal honor but ‘‘because it’s the right thing to do’’ and reflected on ‘‘many Thursdays in that chair over 18 years’’ of service. He thanked the commission and his family for their support.
Commissioners took photos and presented a plaque and a commemorative plate to Sorrenti. The chair noted the resolution would be documented in the official records.
The presentation concluded before the meeting moved on to other agenda items.
